RIP to the Prince of Darkness. He'll forever be missed. I've owned Ozzy memorabilia since 1991.
It's a rare 8" x 10" from 1984 in excellent condition. It's a piece of rock history taken October 26, 1983, the album art shoot for "Bark At The Moon," Ozzy's third record since Black Sabbath, and the first since the death of Randy Rhoads. It debuted in the USA the next month.
The photo is a moment of levity during the all-day process of putting on Ozzy's werewolf costume complete with facial molds and hand-made fingers by the special effects artist Greg Cannon (Michael Jackson's THRILLER). It was snapped before the finishing parts – teeth and contacts – went on.
Ozzy was in costume past dawn the following day.
Photographer Fin Costello (Kiss, Van Halen, Judas Priest, etc.) also shot the album art for both of Ozzy's previous records.
Published in 1984 by Anabas Products Limited, a business of rock paparazzi in England. They, in an ignorant haste to exploit fame, misspelled "Ozzie."
